“What’s there to say?”

That’s the reaction most people had when we told them we would be focusing on ethics in the marketplace—and it was a question we struggled with extensively. What could we write about the issue?

Many of us have had a startling consumption-related statistic tossed at us at one point or another (“It takes 1,500 gallons of water to grow the cotton for ONE pair of jeans!”). But, as with many unsettling facts, most of us recover relatively quickly from the shock/disgust/fear and resume business as usual. Our resilience is both a beautiful thing and a trait that can pave the way for some level of inaction and/or apathy.
